Park City Girls' Weekend

If you don't count the one time I spent in Park City for less than an hour to attend an audition, or the time when I somehow ended lost in the middle of Park City late, late one night driving home from a ward camp-out, then this past weekend was my first official visit to PC.  I have to say that after only two days there, I am a little bit charmed!

My friends Heidi and Kayla decided they wanted to get out of town for the weekend and Park City was just the place to go.  I was so happy they invited me along because I've really been wanting to visit PC but I've just never managed to in the 4 years I've lived in Utah. Besides that, what two other friends would I rather spend a weekend with?

We stayed at the Best Western, window-shopped, had dinner at The Bandit, sat in the hotel hot tub (which was more like a warm tub), and watched a marathon of "House Hunters" on Saturday.  Sunday morning we woke up in time to get ready for church.  Our wards meet at 9am and we didn't want to rush home so we decided to visit our old Bishopric (who now preside over the Canyon Ward) since they don't meet until 1pm. (Truthfully, we just miss Bishop Rondeau and his counselors so much that we are always looking for an excuse to crash their ward).

It was about as perfect as weekends come and just the little getaway that we all needed. I am already planning a return trip to Park City.  Swiss Days anyone?

Bucket List Adventure #1

What do you do when you want to do this...

and this...

but outside it looks like this?

You have an indoor camp-out, of course!

One evening I was sitting around with my roommates and our home teachers.  We were helping the guys come up with fun and inexpensive date ideas.  Kayla mentioned having an indoor camp-out and I've been wanting to have one ever since!  The idea even made it onto my Bucket List!

This is all you need for an indoor camp-out of your very own:

  • Sheets, clothespins, thumb tacks, rope, etc. to build an indoor fort/tent
  • Sleeping bags, pillows
  • Camping food and camping dishes (Our menu included Pigs In a Blanket, baked beans, fruit)
  • and marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers for stove top S'MORES

The tent/fort was a perfect spot to eat, visit, and watch a movie.  It was definitely something fun and different to do.  I'm not sure if it quite cured my longing for a real camp-out... I'm  now more anxious than ever for summer and being outdoors!

Cinderella Q & A

If Cinderella came to your birthday party, what would you ask her?  Here are some actual question from young party goers...

Question #1: How is Prince Charming today?

Cinderella: Oh, he is very well!  He wishes he could have been here today and asked me to tell you hello from him. (The little girls are always sooo concerned about the Prince!)

Question #2: How do you put up with all that housework?

Cinderella: I like to sing and dance while I work.  My animal friends help me with the housework and that helps it go by quickly.

Question #3: Who is your best friend?

Cinderella: I am friends with many animals.  Jaq and Gus Gus are two of my best friends.  They are mice!

Girl: Mom, I want a mouse like Cinderella!

Mom:(sarcastically)  Thanks, Cinderella.

Cinderella: You're very welcome! (Cinderella is too pure & innocent to understand sarcasm.)

Question #4: Why is your step-mom so mean?

Cinderella: No one taught her to be kind when she was young but she is now working each day to be nicer.

Question #5: Where is your castle?

Cinderella: It is in a far-away kingdom.

Girl: As far away as Provo?!

I need to start writing down all the cute & funny things kids say at my princess parties.  I feel like I get as much entertainment out of the parties as the kids do!
